Flowerhorn Brewery launched back in 2019!
Set up by two friends, Andrew and Arran. We started out back in 2019 with a plan to open a fun brewery in Cardiff with surreal branding and beers. We purchased a 30 litre home brew kit and spent a year homebrewing in Arran’s parent's garage and dreaming how the brewery would look. Eventually converting that same garage into a mini warehouse.
To get started we were brewing our homebrew recipes at local breweries while searching for the perfect site to open our very own brewery and taproom space. A year later after months of searching we got the keys to the current site at The Bridge Studios on Western Avenue and placed the order for a bespoke 1,000 litre brewing kit which would change everything.
In 2021 the brewing kit arrived and lockdown lifted, leading to the launch of our on-site taproom space where people can drink very fresh beer just metres away from where it was brewed. The taproom site is on a shared shipping container yard which features 10 other independent businesses including Mr Croquewich who offer street food throughout the Summers. There was a positive response to the taproom launch which saw the yard full and kept us and all our mates who we roped in to help busy pulling pints ever since.
Flowerhorn has continued to expand since those early days, adding more tanks, a canning line, refurbishing the taproom space and expanding to add two additional units which house the warehouse and cellar. There have been many beer festivals, collaboration beers, events and pints in the process.
Last year things got even crazier as we launched a craft beer and street food bar, Kegbelly, a collaboration between ourselves and Mr Croquewich. Kegbelly has a delicious food menu that complements the beers perfectly, including wings, parmesan fried chicken, bacon frankfurter hot dogs, grilled cheese toasties and more! There are 12 taps pouring which includes a range of Flowerhorn beers as
well as German lager and many rotating guest beers.
From just the 2 of us to a team of 6. Flowerhorn has been brewing more beer and pulling more pints year after year with hopes to continue getting more beer to people across Cardiff and beyond.
Thank you for following along. We're hoping to have more exciting news to share soon.
